The Medicare Claims Sr. Research Analyst will have experience analyzing Medicare claims data and an understanding of Medicare payment systems and policies.  The person in this position will support a range of Health Division projects with CMS and other Federal health care agencies which require the processing and analysis of Medicare claims data. 




  • Lead quantitative project tasks
  • Manage administrative aspects of projects (e.g., timelines and resources)
  • Participate in client meetings, and lead discussions as appropriate
  • Apply quantitative methods to analyze research data
  • Support the preparation of technical procedures and reports
  • Write, compile, and edit assigned portions of proposals and project reports
  • Review work products to ensure quality and consistency of content




  • Master’s Degree in a quantitative field like Mathematics, Statistics, Epidemiology, Public Health or Economics related field
  • 3 + Experience using SAS, SQL, or other analytic software to analyze Medicare claims data
  • Knowledge of fee-for-service Medicare payment systems, processing, and policies
  • Experience analyzing Medicare data for CMS research and implementation projects in the IDR or CCW’s VRDC a plus
  • Experience analyzing Medicare claims databases for research purposes
  • Experience using SAS, SQL, or other analytic software to analyze private health care claims data a plus



  • Strong quantitative skills
  • Strong oral communication and writing skills
  • Project Management experience a plus
  • Ability to interpret quantitative results a plus
