    Job Profile

    The ETL Engineer will work with a cross functional team of Data Analysts, BI Developers, Business Analysts and Testers supporting the modernization, development and implementation of a multimodal application designed to capture, organize, aggregate, and analyze information related to CMS’s mission of implementing and operating Affordable Care Act programs. This will be a cloud based application utilizing cutting edge data analytics, storage and security technologies.

     

    This is a 5 year contract located in Woodlawn, MD.

    Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.  Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, and test ETL using SQL programming
    • Define and develop source-to-target data mapping specifications
    • Develop ETL code from internal and external sources using various ETL tools
    • Perform data analysis and data quality checks and recommends data remediation plan
    • Analyze and resolve ETL, view, or query performance problems

    Qualifications

    Education, Knowledge, and Experience

    • 2 + years of experience in the ETL Engineer role
    • BA/BS
    • 2 years of  proficient experience with data ingestion, data processing and data modeling process
    • Experience working on Big Data projects in healthcare payer space
    • Prior Health IT experience with CMS or HHS
    • Functional knowledge of CMS IT XLC (Expedited Life Cycle), MIDAS (Multidimensional Information Data Analytics System), ACA (Affordable Care Act), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA)
    • Experience with NiFi, Spark, AWS Glue, and/or Informatica
    • Experience in Data Warehousing environment, experience in handling large volume of data
    • Experience working in DevOps and Agile environments
    • Experience in ETL development for relational databases with an advanced SQL programming background
    • Experience with datasets large enough to require extended storage

    Skills

    • Experience in writing Unix shell scripts
    • Experience reviewing, updating, and maintaining existing IT documentation
    • Experience creating, debugging, and extending ETL workflow
    • Familiarity with the following technologies and tools:
      • AWS, Redshift Spectrum, RDS, Aurora, Apache Spark, Scala, Python, XML, Java, JSON, SQL, S3, ETL
      • AWS Athena, QuickSight, Glue, Redshift, Apache NiFi, Apache Jupyter, AWS S3
    • Certified Developer from a major Hadoop Distributor such as Cloudera, HortonWorks and MapR preferred.
